Prescription Safety Frame Maker Acquired

The Hilsinger Company (HILCO) announced Oct. 3 it has acquired OnGuard Safety Corporation, a Toronto, Canada-based supplier of prescription industrial safety frames.

"Eye protection is an area of increasing focus for our company and for many of our customers," Hilsinger President Bob Nahmias said. "OnGuard fits in perfectly with our business strategy as it enables us to present more innovative growth opportunities to our valued customers. OnGuard's commitments to innovation, quality, and customer service have propelled it to a leading market position, and we are thrilled to join forces with such a dynamic, quality company." An affiliated company, Optiq, is not involved with the transaction and will continue to be operated by the Nadler family, according to HILCO's release.

The combined OnGuard/A-2 product line will be sold under the OnGuard umbrella and will consist of more than 170 prescription safety frame styles. OnGuard's operations have been relocated to HILCO's Plainville, Mass., headquarters.
