DOT Awards Grants for Road Weather Information

The Department of Transportation (DOT) is awarding $450,000 for three regional projects to improve transportation safety and reduce congestion during adverse weather conditions. The project supports the development of road weather demonstration projects in Alaska; in a regional partnership made up of Iowa, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana; and in a regional partnership made up of South Dakota, North Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Minnesota.

The funding is part of the Clarus program, an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) initiative aimed at improving the quality of road weather information available to the public and state and local transportation agencies. Contact for more information is Roger Lotz at 202-366-2246.
