HFES Bulletin Lists Top Blogs, Welcomes Journal's New Editor

Carol Stuart-Buttle, MS, CPE, MErgS, principal at Stuart-Buttle Ergonomics of Philadelphia, started as editor of the journal Ergonomics in Design on Jan. 1, 2010.

The December 2009 edition of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's Bulletin is chock full of good information for HFES members and anyone else interested in the society and the overall subject of ergonomics. The newsletter includes a summary of HFES’ 2008 audited financial report (total revenues: $1,678,136; total expenses: $1,676,262; total assets as of 12/31/08: $945,289). It announces that consultant Carol Stuart-Buttle, MS, CPE, MErgS, principal at Stuart-Buttle Ergonomics of Philadelphia, started as editor of the journal Ergonomics in Design on Jan. 1, 2010. And it lists 34 good human factors blogs enjoyed by HFES members and includes comments from HFES members who write four of them about the value and purpose of their blogs.

According to the article about her in the Bulletin, Stuart-Buttle has chaired the American Industrial Hygiene Association's Ergonomics Committee and the HFES Outreach Advisory Committee, has served as HFES' secretary-treasurer and an Executive Council member at large, and was a director of the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics for eight years. "EID is a great quarterly, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with it," Stuart-Buttle says in the article. "I hope to bring out more theme-based issues that, over time, will build a useful archive of information for the practitioner. In addition, each issue will aim to explore the different perspectives of the topic, both cognitive and physical. I plan to try and broaden the exposure of the publication to practitioners outside the society."
