Kentucky Safety Program Reminds Employers of Coming Chemical Hazard Communication Deadline

Kentucky employers need correct chemical labels and classifications, plus updated safety data sheets, programs and training for newly identified hazards.

Under OSHA's revised Hazard Communication Standard, Kentucky employers face a Nov. 20 compliance deadline. KYSAFE, a state occupational safety and health program, flagged the date.

By that date, chemicals need correct classification and labels, KYSAFE said. Safety data sheets also need updating for any substance hazards that are newly identified under the revised standard. The same goes for hazard communication programs and employee training.

KYSAFE has posted a recorded webinar for employers that goes into more detail on safety data sheets, employee training, chemical labeling and hazard classification. It can be viewed on the program's website or its YouTube channel. OSHA's hazard communication page has more on the standard.
