Enterprises are moving away from fragmented safety deployments in favor of cohesive video analytics platforms to manage high-risk environments. A new report by research firm Verdantix, titled “Smart Innovators: Video Analytics for Safety,” identifies viAct as a leading innovator in the rapidly evolving workplace safety market.
The report evaluates vendors on technical capabilities such as behavioral monitoring, personal protective equipment (PPE) detection and area controls. According to the findings, the industry is reaching a turning point where isolated "use cases", such as a single camera checking for hard hats, are being replaced by integrated systems that connect detection to active workflows.
While many organizations have expanded their use of video AI, they often struggle with data silos. Different applications frequently operate independently, leaving safety insights distributed across multiple, disconnected dashboards.
The industry is now prioritizing platforms that offer configurability and real-world scalability. Modern systems aim to unify various safety scenarios, from equipment monitoring to unsafe behavioral patterns, into a single operational framework.
Centralized management allows safety teams to monitor and respond to risks across multiple sites through one interface. This approach focuses on making safety data "actionable" rather than just "observable," ensuring that an AI alert actually leads to a timely intervention on the ground.
Looking toward the future, the sector is moving toward "agentic" capabilities. This involves the use of AI agents—specialized digital assistants—that can handle specific safety scenarios and interpret complex context. These advancements are expected to bridge the gap between simple risk detection and real-time operational decision-making in heavy industries.
