NFPA Partners With NASCAR Driver to Promote Safety Standards
The National Fire Protection Association and driver Joey Gase are using Daytona International Speedway to highlight public safety rules.

The National Fire Protection Association is returning to Daytona International Speedway alongside NASCAR driver Joey Gase to highlight its public awareness campaign on safety codes and standards.
Gase will drive the No. 44 car in the upcoming Coke Zero Sugar 400.
The initiative, titled "Safety Doesn’t Happen By Chance," aims to educate the public on how consensus-based building, electrical and life-safety codes protect individuals in everyday environments ranging from homes to office buildings.
The collaboration between NFPA and Gase began in 2023 as part of an effort to bring fire safety messaging to a nationwide television audience. According to NFPA representatives, raising awareness about code development processes is critical as established safety standards face growing pressure from outside interest groups seeking to bypass traditional consensus-based guidelines.
Through the nationwide race broadcast, the organization hopes to foster public understanding and support for the technical standards that underpin everyday infrastructure safety.
