AIHA Fellows Scholarship Established
More than $26,000 has been raised toward a $100,000 goal in the first six weeks after the annual SIG meeting at AIHce 2012.
The American Industrial Hygiene Association® Fellows special interest group has created the AIHA Fellows Scholarship, with more than $26,000 raised toward a $100,000 goal in the first six weeks after the annual SIG meeting at AIHce 2012. AIHA Fellows Dave Gioiello and Denese Deeds challenged their colleagues to raise the money within a year.
AIHA said the initial AIHA Fellows Scholarship will be awarded in 2013 under the American Industrial Hygiene Foundation.
"On behalf of the AIHA Fellows SIG, I want to thank those who have already contributed to this worthy endeavor, and to encourage the rest of the AIHA Fellows to consider giving to this wonderful cause," said Deborah Imel Nelson, Ph.D., CIH, Fellows SIG chair. "The scholarships awarded through the American Industrial Hygiene Foundation allow us to continue to support bringing the best and the brightest into the profession."
The Fellow designation was established to recognize members who have been full members in good standing for 15 years of continuous membership and have made recognized contributions to IH or related disciplines through research, leadership, publications, education, or service to AIHA. The Fellow designation is limited to no more than 5 percent of the association's membership. Visit www.aiha.org/aboutaiha/Pages/AwardsandHonors.aspx for more information.
