ATSSA's 2008 National Safety Award Nominations Due Monday

Continuing a 19-year tradition, the members of the American Traffic Safety Services Association are nominating an outstanding public official who has made extraordinary contributions to the safety of the nation's roadways for the 2008 ATSSA National Safety Award. Nominations are due by Sept. 8.

To be eligible for the award, the nominee must work for a government agency or have retired from a government agency within two years of the nomination deadline. The ATSSA Safety and Public Awareness Committee will review all nominations during an upcoming meeting in Washington, D.C., will produce a list of three finalists. The ATSSA Board of Directors will then make a final selection from those three names.

The award will be presented during ATSSA's 39th Annual Convention and Traffic Expo, which will be held Feb. 1-5, 2009, in San Jose, Calif. The award winner receives a plaque and an all-expenses-paid trip to the convention.
