Quinlan Appointed Acting Secretary of Surface Transportation Board

Surface Transportation Board Chairman Charles D. Nottingham announced that Anne K. Quinlan, a lawyer, was appointed acting STB secretary in place of Board Secretary Vernon A. Williams,  who retired Jan. 3.

Quinlan began her career with the predecessor agency of STB, the Interstate Commerce Commission, in 1978. She served as an assistant secretary from February 1993 to December 1995 at the ICC, from January 1996 through March 2000 at STB, and most recently as an attorney advisor/ethics officer in the board's Office of Economics, Environmental Analysis and Administration.

The STB secretary is the agency's clerk and is responsible for recordkeeping and issuance of STB decisions and other legal documents. For more information, visit www.dot.gov.
