ASSE Holds "Lessons Learned from 9/11" Conference Nov. 14

Emphasizing the importance of planning and preparing for an emergency, the American Society of Safety Engineers' Philadelphia and Penn-Jersey Chapters will host a half day professional development conference: "Emergency Management: Lessons Learned from 9/11" on Nov. 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Wyndham Hotel in Mt. Laurel, N.J.

The half-day professional development conference will feature "The Man Who Predicted 9/11," a documentary about Rick Rescorla, former Morgan Stanley security chief at the World Trade Center who is credited with helping to save more than 2,700 lives on 9/11. The event also will include a session with security consultant Dan Hill, discussing potential terrorist targets in the tri-state area; a session on emergency management led by Michael Yarnell, OSHA compliance assistance specialist; and presentations on the emergency resources available for businesses and individuals in the Philadelphia-New Jersey area with speakers from the NJ Task Force 1 Urban Search & Rescue Canine Units and representatives from the American Red Cross and FEMA.
