Free Spanish-Language Course Teaches Safe Digging Around Buried Utilities

The CGA is reaching out to Spanish-speaking construction, landscaping and fence-building workers.

Excavation workers who speak Spanish can now complete the Common Ground Alliance (CGA) excavator safety training and certification curriculum in their language, free and online.

The self-paced course teaches safe digging methods, among them using the 811 system to get buried utility lines marked before work starts. Those who finish earn a certificate of completion in excavation safety.

CGA's outreach for the course is focused on California, Texas, Florida, Arizona and New York, and workers can enroll through its Spanish-language training portal.
