Sixteen advanced manufacturers across Iowa will receive state grants to train new and current workers in production, machine maintenance and other skill gaps, Iowa Workforce Development announced.
The awards total $1,391,547 under the new Advanced Manufacturing Pathways Development (AMP'D) Iowa program. Each business will design its own training program.
Eligible employers can be reimbursed for up to 80% of training costs. Awards are capped at $4,000 per employee and $250,000 per employer.
The state will keep accepting applications through iowagrants.gov until the remaining funds are awarded. Application documents and recorded webinars are available on the AMP'D Iowa website.
Funding comes from the U.S. Department of Labor's Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund. The program follows Iowa's Manufacturing 4.0 initiative.
