Washington Safety Conference Marks 75th Year

More than 50 sessions in Tacoma will cover workplace safety, with additional workshops on performance and artificial intelligence.

The Governor’s Industrial Safety & Health Conference will hold its 75th annual gathering Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center in Tacoma, Washington, offering more than 50 sessions and an exhibition featuring more than 80 exhibitors.

Participants can earn 10 contact hours, equivalent to one continuing education unit, for attending the two-day conference.

Two optional full-day workshops will precede the conference on Sept. 29. “When Safety Becomes Performance” and “The Human Side of Safety in the Age of AI” require an additional fee and offer contact hours.

Former NASA astronaut Mike Massimino will deliver the keynote address, “Leading Beyond the Stars.” The opening ceremony will honor fallen workers and recognize people who performed lifesaving actions during the past year.

A pole top rescue competition is scheduled for noon Sept. 30 at Tollefson Square.
