Fike Completes Pressure Vessel Manufacturing Facility

The company said the facility helps it provide clean agent systems for fire suppression and protection products in response to the boom in computer and Internet industries.

Fike Corporation announced the completion of a new pressure vessel manufacturing facility at its corporate headquarters in Blue Springs, Mo., saying the facility allows for increased production of commercial clean agent fire protection cylinders. They are used in fire suppression and protection products, and the boom in computer and Internet industries has increased demand for them, the company said Feb. 11.

Fike broke ground for the facility in early 2010. "In the wake of businesses all across the country scrambling to reduce costs, Fike chose to invest in their infrastructure," said Brent Leonard, product manager for Commercial Products at the company. "While the primary focus was to maintain control of product quality, lead times, and costs, keeping jobs local and stimulating the economy were also important considerations."

Fike, founded in 1945, celebrated its 65th birthday last year. The company said it employs 350 people in the United States and more than 700 worldwide. It produces commercial and industrial fire protection systems, fire detection products, explosion protection, pressure relief solutions, and oilfield products.
