Ansell, Mallinckrodt Partner to Promote Lab Safety

Chemical manufacturer Mallinckrodt Baker Inc. (Phillipsburg, N.J.) and PPA manufacturer Ansell Healthcare (Red Bank, N.J.) have joined forces to promote safety in chemical handling and storage in analytical laboratory environments. The partnership is producing joint safety seminars, training programs, and literature for lab technicians, as well as pooled online databases for customers. The companies say they will engage in joint marketing and sales activities to promote lab safety awareness throughout 2008.

"It is critical for laboratory technicians to be able to quickly access the proper storage and handling methods for each chemical used in the laboratory," said Russell Thorpe, Mallinckrodt's global marketing director - laboratory chemicals. "This partnership brings together an expert in chemicals and a leader in the personal protective clothing area to provide customers with the latest know-how required to create safer working environments within the industry."

While the companies have already started to roll out their joint safety seminars in select geographies on a pilot basis, they officially launched the safety training programs nationwide at this week's American Chemical Society's Spring National Meeting in New Orleans. They say customers can visit www.ansellmbi.com to request a joint safety training seminar for their organization.
