Community Preparedness Conference Set for April

The Yale Center for Public Health Preparedness will hold "Community Preparedness: Addressing the Needs of Diverse Populations" on April 17-18, 2008 at the Omni Hotel in New Haven, Conn.

The aim of this conference is to provide supportive information and exemplary methods of emergency response for state and local planners in an effort to reach all community members in an emergency.

At the end of the conference, participants will:

  • Be able to identify the different subgroups of diverse populations who may be hard to reach or who may have limited access to traditional methods of emergency assistance;
  • obtain practical tools and knowledge to help ensure that disaster response plans are inclusive of all community members;
  • have increased awareness of current emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities for diverse populations; and
  • have interacted with key stakeholders and service providers involved in all aspects of emergency preparedness, response, and recovery.
