New Home Safety Site Aims to Build Community
"Protecting You and Yours In and From Your Home" is the trademarked slogan of www.safeathomeonline.com, a new site that is the public face of an organization named Safe At Home International. Founder Randy DeVaul, a Westfield, N.Y.-based safety author and consultant, described SAHI as "the first general member organization that focuses entirely on family and pet safety at home."
Today he cited a recent study by the Pacific Institute for Research & Evaluation that found employers pay more than $38 billion annually in health and business costs for employees who are injured at home. This spending amounted to $15.8 billion on medical/health costs, $11.8 billion on sick leave/disability insurance, and $9.6 billion on training/retraining/hiring and disrupted production.
Employers can provide a home safety message to their workers 24/7 for $36 annually, or less than 10 cents a day, DeVaul said. Articles, links, and information are available on the members' page. For more information, visit the site or send an e-mail to [email protected]
