"Workers and their families in southwest Pennsylvania have seen their share of challenges, with many former coal workers seeking new jobs in manufacturing but lacking the necessary job skills to do so," Gov. The funds cover training and retraining of mine workers who work at surface and underground coal and metal and nonmetal mines, including those who are in shell dredging or employed at surface stone, sand, and gravel mining operations.

"Commercial kitchens have the potential to be a recipe for risk," said Lisa Houle, manager of Industry and Labour Services at WorkSafeBC. "They contain lots of sharp, heavy, hot objects; the pace of work is demanding; and they have high employee turnover, so there's a constant need for training."
