Fall Protection Lifelines Take Two of Three Top Spots at NSC Safety Congress Awards

A wireless gas detection monitor earned second place in the annual awards, which recognized more than 84 products from 52 companies.

Guardian Hero™ Self-Retracting Lifeline, a lifeline that retracts fully automatically, won first place in the 12th annual Best in Show - New Product Showcase Awards. It is designed to strengthen fall protection for people who work at height while improving their mobility and efficiency, the National Safety Council (NSC) said.

NSC listed the winners in a Nov. 2 recap of its 2026 NSC Safety Congress & Expo, held Sept. 11-17 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Products from 52 companies were among the more than 84 the awards recognized.

Honeywell ModRAE placed second. It is a modular wireless gas detection monitor offering real-time hazard monitoring and configurable sensor options for industrial safety work, NSC said.

Third place went to 3M™ DBI-SALA® Nano-Lok™ Edge Anchor Mounted Self-Retracting Lifeline. This compact lifeline is made for foot-level tie-off applications and provides fall protection in difficult elevated work settings, NSC said.

Attendance topped 11,000 at this year's event, the 114th Safety Congress & Expo, which also had 1,000 exhibitors, NSC said. Exhibit space covered 557,600 square feet.

Next year's event is set for Sept. 24-30, 2027, in Anaheim, California. Details are at congress.nsc.org.
