SHOEBOX PureTest™, an iPad-based audiometer combined with software that manages test data and tracks compliance, received the 2026 Hearing Technology Innovator Award from Hearing Health & Technology Matters in the Equipment, Audiometry category. In announcing the win Oct. 22, Ottawa-based SHOEBOX said the system helps employers run OSHA-compliant hearing tests at their own sites year-round without needing a booth.
During every test, the audiometer's patent-pending REACT Safeguards watch ambient sound levels and how employees respond, according to SHOEBOX. A test pauses if the room becomes too noisy. When the algorithm marks a result as unreliable, the audiometer checks it again.
Test results go automatically to the system's Data Management Portal, which centralizes records, produces reports and connects to occupational health systems, according to SHOEBOX. The system's new Compliance Dashboard shows compliance companywide and site by site. It also points out employees whose testing is late, who still await a retest or who need follow-up.
