Gate staff at high-risk industrial sites can confirm at check-in whether an arriving contractor's training is current and whether that person's employer is approved, using a new module from Novara.
Novara, a safety and risk management software company, released Visitor Management for its Flex Contractor Risk Management software Oct. 21. The module checks each arrival against training and qualification records already stored in Contractor Risk Management, Novara said. According to Novara, badge systems and paper sign-in sheets capture a name but don't show whether someone has clearance to be on the property.
Contractors and visitors can be checked in by name or by contractor organization, from either a mobile device or the web dashboard. Before entry is confirmed, each check-in displays the person's name and contractor organization, whether that organization is approved and any requirements still outstanding.
A live dashboard shows current and total headcount and average time on site by contractor, and the view can be narrowed by location, tag or contractor company. Any check-in still open after 12 hours without a checkout is flagged and prompts a push notification. Novara said utility, oil and gas, manufacturing, and construction sites using the module get a live count of everyone on the property.
Check-in history and reports can be exported to CSV for post-drill debriefs, audits and incident investigations. Novara said existing Flex Contractor Risk Management customers can add the module now at no extra cost.
