Chemical distributors, emergency responders and government agencies recently tested their coordination during a chemical incident exercise in Nitro, West Virginia.
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency led the exercise at a Brenntag North America facility. Participants included Brenntag and fellow Alliance for Chemical Distribution members CITCO Water and LBB Specialties, along with federal, state and local officials.
The scenario walked participants through the full arc of an incident, from sharing information beforehand to responding and recovering afterward. The Alliance for Chemical Distribution said the exercise was part of ongoing preparedness efforts and was not prompted by any particular threat.
