An Indianapolis nonprofit received more than $3,000 raised by the National Safety Council’s Labor Division at its fall meeting during the 2026 NSC Safety Congress & Expo.
Participating union locals and individual donors supplied the contributions to Second Helpings, which uses donated surplus food to prepare meals for people facing hunger in central Indiana.
The nonprofit gathers food from restaurants, retail businesses and wholesale suppliers and serves more than 5,500 meals daily. It also offers culinary training to prepare participants for employment in food service.
The Labor Division brings together safety professionals affiliated with unions and government regulators to address workplace health, safety and environmental issues in multiple industries.
