APM Group Agrees to Acquire Medcor Following WorkCare Purchase

The combined occupational health operation would include more than 2,000 employees across 450 sites in the United States and Canada.

Employers using Medcor's occupational health services will see no immediate operational changes as APM Group seeks regulatory approval to acquire the company.

APM Group announced Sept. 28 that it entered into an agreement to acquire Medcor. The transaction remains subject to Federal Trade Commission approval. Financial terms and an expected completion date were not disclosed.

The agreement follows APM's acquisition of WorkCare, announced April 2. WorkCare provides occupational health, injury-management and workforce-wellness services.

APM plans to combine Medcor and WorkCare with Assure, its employee assistance program provider. Together, the three operations would employ more than 2,000 people across 450 sites, with services available in every U.S. state and territory and every Canadian province.

The combined service portfolio would include workplace injury prevention, onsite medical services, occupational health screenings, injury triage, telehealth, case management, return-to-work support, mental health services, employee assistance programs and workforce safety consulting.

Medcor provides onsite and mobile occupational health services, workplace injury triage, 24/7 telehealth and construction health and safety services. The company was founded in 1984.
