Louisiana Director Named Outstanding Safety Professional of the Year

Columbia Southern University honors construction industry veteran Danny Simpson for three decades of leadership in workplace safety.

A national construction safety leader with more than three decades of industry experience has received a top national honor for workplace safety leadership.

Columbia Southern University’s College of Safety and Emergency Services named Danny Simpson its Outstanding Safety Professional of the Year. Simpson serves as the director of health and safety for a national construction firm and resides in Iowa, Louisiana.

Simpson has worked in occupational safety and health for 33 years, including 17 years in the construction sector. He transitioned into the safety field after witnessing a co-worker suffer an on-the-job injury.

Throughout his career, Simpson authored a book detailing core safety management principles focused on support, accountability, focus and evaluation. He holds memberships with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, the American Society of Safety Professionals and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

The university established the annual award in conjunction with National Safety Month to recognize accomplishments and professional dedication among occupational safety and health practitioners.
