A local construction company has received a top statewide honor for its workplace safety record and commitment to employee health.
The Safety Consultation and Training Section of the State of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations announced that K.G. Walters Construction is the latest recipient of the Safe Partner Award. The recognition is designed to increase safety awareness and strengthen safety culture within the workplace.
The state agency grants the award to a maximum of four businesses annually out of the roughly 100,000 employers operating in Nevada.
To qualify for the recognition, businesses must utilize the state's no-cost safety services, which include consultations, training courses and enrollment in specialized safety practitioner programs. Qualifying employers must also implement effective hazard prevention programs and maintain a days-away restricted transfer rate below the national average for their specific industry.
According to state officials, the construction firm demonstrated a strong safety culture while managing high-risk, technically demanding infrastructure projects across the region.
The state agency provides employers with confidential hazard identification, program development and implementation assistance. Nevada businesses seeking more information on safety programs or free training courses can contact the agency directly.
