The state's agency and industry representatives will collaborate on efforts to improve construction workplace safety.

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries will host its next Construction Advisory Committee meeting on June 24 to discuss workplace safety and industry regulations.

The meeting will take place from 9:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. PDT at the agency's Tukwila office, with options for participants to attend virtually via Microsoft Teams. The committee serves as a collaborative forum for labor and business representatives to coordinate strategies aimed at fostering safer and more productive jobsites across the state.

Craig Blackwood is scheduled to present data regarding construction violations, fatalities and hospitalizations. The agenda also includes a Division of Occupational Safety and Health rules and legislative update from Thomas West.

Additionally, attendees will receive briefings on the Safety and Health Assessment and Research for Prevention program from Todd Schoonover, alongside updates on Safety and Health Investment Project grants from Jenifer Jellison and Christina Riley. Subcommittee members will also present updates regarding fall protection and confined space safety measures.

The meeting will conclude with a roundtable discussion to review action items and outline future agenda topics ahead of the subsequent committee meeting scheduled for Sept. 29.
