NSC Honors Innovative Safety Programs

Southern California Edison and Georgia-Pacific were recognized for pioneering new technology and strategies to eliminate workplace hazards.

The NSC announced the recipients of its 2025 Networks Catalyst in Safety Award during a ceremony on May 6 at the 2026 NSC Safety Summit in Baltimore.

Southern California Edison, an electric utility, received the top award. The recognition was for its Energy-Based Safety program, detailed in a report on identifying high-energy hazards to prevent serious injuries and fatalities at work sites.

Georgia-Pacific, a manufacturing company, was named runner-up. The company used AI cameras with speed controls on powered industrial trucks to prevent collisions involving pedestrians and employees in shared spaces.

The Networks Catalyst in Safety Award goes to teams or organizations that identify operational risks, engage stakeholders and apply solutions for environmental, health and safety improvements.

The event was part of the NSC Leaders in Safety Award Celebration.
