Labor Department Announces Virtual Workforce Compliance Forum

Federal agencies will provide guidance on safety standards and wage laws during a two-day online event for employers and workers.

Federal officials are launching a comprehensive online initiative to help employers and employees navigate the complexities of workplace regulations. The upcoming "Protecting America’s Workforce" forum, taking place May 6-7, will feature a series of panels and presentations focused on compliance with federal laws governing safety, wages and benefits.

The two-day virtual event includes participation from several key regulatory bodies, including OSHA, the Wage and Hour Division and the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Representatives from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Small Business Administration are also scheduled to participate to provide a broader scope of federal oversight.

Technical sessions will cover a wide range of operational topics relevant to safety managers and HR professionals. Key agenda items include OSHA’s Heat Illness Prevention campaign, prevailing wage requirements for government contracts and current child labor laws. The forum will also highlight the department’s self-audit programs, which allow businesses to identify and correct violations proactively.

Participants will also receive updates on the relaunch of the department’s opinion letters program and information regarding Registered Apprenticeships and veterans’ employment rights. While the sessions are free and open to the public, the department requires all attendees to register in advance to receive access links and the full event agenda.
