In an era defined by the rapid expansion of renewable energy and battery storage, ContourGlobal reported strong occupational health and safety performance for 2025. The company managed more than five million working hours across its global portfolio, focusing on execution discipline and visible leadership.
The performance comes as the independent power producer (IPP) navigates a transition toward hybridization and storage integration. The company currently manages 6.2 gigawatts of capacity in operation or under construction across multiple technologies and geographies.
A central component of the year’s safety strategy was the "Buddy Up for Safety" campaign. This month-long initiative focused on early hazard identification and mutual accountability among employees and contractors. The campaign reached more than 1,200 employees in 18 countries, utilizing site-level awareness activities and leadership safety moments.
The company also integrated a new Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) policy. This system aligns with ISO standards and treats safety as a measurable indicator of operational quality rather than a standalone objective.
Several major projects reached milestones with zero recordable injuries in 2025. In Bulgaria, the company completed a 500-megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) facility. Other successful safety outcomes were reported during maintenance in Spain, wind technology installations in Austria and large-scale solar commissioning in Chile.
When incidents do occur, the company utilizes a protocol that triggers immediate stop-work decisions. This is followed by a root cause analysis to implement system-level changes, prioritizing workforce protection and organizational learning over short-term project continuity.
