The construction industry’s annual event dedicated to worker safety and wellness, Construction Safety Week, will take place from May 5-9, bringing together companies, workers, and industry leaders to promote a culture of safety and well-being on jobsites nationwide.
Construction Safety Week serves as a reminder of the industry's ongoing commitment to ensuring every worker returns home safely each day. While the event lasts one week, it emphasizes the need for year-round vigilance and dedication to best practices that reduce jobsite risks.
This year’s theme, “All in Together,” underscores the collective responsibility of all workers and companies in fostering a safe construction environment. The theme is built around three key pillars:
- Plan – Developing a detailed, risk-aware strategy before work begins to prevent incidents and injuries.
- Own – Encouraging every worker to take responsibility for safety, including stopping work when conditions change and reassessing risks.
- Commit – Ensuring all team members execute their tasks with precision and intention, building trust and a culture of safety industry-wide.
“Construction Safety Week represents the construction industry at its best—united in purpose and driven by a shared commitment to protecting the lives of everyone on our jobsites,” said Mike Choutka, 2025 Safety Week Chair and CEO of Hensel Phelps. “This year's theme, All in Together, highlights the collective effort needed to make safety a top priority from planning through execution. We encourage everyone in the industry to mark their calendars for May 5-9 and join us in reinforcing our commitment to safety.”
The construction industry consistently experiences higher incident rates than many other occupations, making safety initiatives like Construction Safety Week crucial. The event highlights the importance of proactive planning, worker engagement, and commitment to continuous safety improvements.
Construction Safety Week encourages new firms to participate as members, sponsors, or advocates. Companies are invited to demonstrate their commitment to worker safety and actively support industry-wide safety initiatives.
