President’s FY2023 Budget Includes $14.6 Billion for Department of Labor

The budget includes funding for worker protection agencies, mental health plans

The Biden-Harris administration released the Fiscal Year 2023 budget this week.

According to a press release, the budget outlines a request for almost $15 billion in resources for the Department of Labor (DOL).

Of these funds, $2.2 billion would go towards worker protection agencies in the DOL. This would ensure wages and benefits are protected and health and safety are improved.

In addition, the budget invests in worker’s mental and behavioral health by requiring health plans to include both benefits to a capacity.

“President Biden’s 2023 budget request of $14.6 billion in discretionary resources for the Department of Labor is an explicit value statement on empowering workers morning, noon and night,” said Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh in a press release.
