Combustible Dust and PPE — 2 NFPA Standards to Know to Improve Safety Culture

OH&S editor Sydny Shepard sits down with Westex: A Milliken Brand’s Scott Francis to talk all about combustible dust. Listen in to find out why combustible dust is so hazardous and what NFPA standards apply.

Combustible dust. I feel like it doesn’t matter how many webinars, articles or podcasts that we do on this subject – there is always something new to explore. Today, I have with me Scott Francis, who is going to talk with me all about the basics of combustible dust but we also get pretty deep into some NFPA standards and what they say about how to protect workers from this dangerous dust.

Scott’s been on the podcast with us before, but in case you have not heard his episodes let me introduce him:

Scott Francis graduated from Augustana College and the University of Iowa with a M.S. in Inorganic Chemistry. Since 1991, Scott has been involved in the Safety Industry, gaining extensive experience with the performance of protective apparel fabrics and protective apparel programs. Scott has participated in a number of industry organizations, including Edison Electric Institute, National Safety Council-Utilities Division and the Pulp and Paper Safety Association. He frequently addresses trade associations and groups regarding electric arc and flash fire hazards, prevention of body burn injury, the protective performance of flame-resistant fabrics and related topics.

I learned so much during my interview with Scott and I’m so excited for you to hear it! Download or stream this episode today at Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify and more
