VPPPA Conference's Next Stop: Nashville

Next year's annual national conference is scheduled to take place Aug. 28-31, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

With the Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association having wrapped up its Safety+ Symposium in New Orleans last week, attendees, exhibitors, and the conference's organizers can turn their attention to regional VPPPA events and also next year's annual national conference, which is scheduled to take place Aug. 28-31, 2018, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

It's a location familiar to VPPPA conference attendees, and the association's leaders must be fond of it, as well: According to information available on the VPPPA website about future dates, the annual national conference will be back there again Aug. 31-Sept. 3, 2021.

The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center is located less than 10 miles from Nashville International Airport and near the Grand Ole Opry, Opry Mills, and the Country Music Hall of Fame, according to information on the resort's website. It offers indoor and outdoor pools and nine acres of indoor gardens and cascading waterfalls, along with 700,000 square feet of event space.

Setting the meeting in Nashville avoids hurricane concerns along the Louisiana/Texas Gulf Coast in August, but Nashville isn't immune from natural disasters. Major flooding there and in surrounding counties in May 2010 caused close to $2 billion in property damage, the Nashville Planning Department calculated.

There should be plenty to do in Nashville around this time next year. The Tennessean's list of things to do during the 2017 Labor Day weekend included college football, a BBQ festival, art and food crawls, and live jazz.
