Illinois Roofing Contractor Cited After Exposing Workers to Deadly Fall Hazards

Four willful and two serious safety violations were issued to Barringer Brothers Roofing.

Illinois roofing contractor Barringer Brothers Roofing has been cited by OSHA after an inspection found workers exposed to potentially deadly fall hazards. The agency issued four willful and two serious safety violations, adding up to $214,782 in fines.

"Robert Barringer exposed employees to fall hazards and failed to comply with federal safety requirements to protect workers on the job putting them at serious risk of injury or worse," said Aaron Priddy, OSHA's area director in Fairview Heights. "Fall protection is required whenever employees work at heights greater than 6 feet."

Following the citations, OSHA has placed the company on its Severe Violator Enforcement Program.
