NSC 2016: And the Awards Go to . . .
Lots of awards are handed out during the biggest U.S. safety show of the year.
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The National Safety Council has presented its top awards at this year's National Safety Congress & Expo, just a hint of the many awards being given out at this, the biggest annual U.S. show for the safety and occupational health industry. The council honored seven recipients of its Distinguished Service to Safety Award, 40 Rising Stars of safety, and three new products given Best in Show honors as win, place, and show finishers. And that's not all, as the saying goes.
DuPont Protection Technologies' Kevlar Brand presented its 2016 DuPont Kevlar Innovation Awards at an Oct. 17 evening reception to four companies: Youngstown Glove Co., Superior Glove, PIP USA, and MCR Safety, with Kevlar tweeting the news via its @KevlarBrand afterward.
OH&S presented 2016 New Product of the Year trophies to more than 20 winning companies at this conference. And the NSC 2016 Best in Show companies, announced on Oct. 18, were Meltblown Technologies (win), Superior Glove Works (place), and MSA (show).
The seven winners of the Distinguished Service to Safety Award are Daniel J. Hartwig, CSP, CIH, president of General Health & Safety Services Corp.; Michael F. Henderek, retired from ExxonMobil Corp.; Melissa Wandall, founder of the National Coalition for Safer Roads; Fred W. Bonewell, VP of CPS Energy; Charles Herrier, OS&H manager at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center; Rick Irwin of Alliant Energy/IBEW Local 965; and Drew Ellesmere-Jones, president of DJ Management Solutions, LLC.
