New to the Salt Lake City International Airport is Data Comm, a technology that replaces voice communications with digital information exchanges, making communication between air traffic and pilots more efficient.

Digital communication allows for more clarity and efficiently, improving productivity and safety as well as reduce delays. According to the FAA news release, the Federal Aviation Administration started using Data Comm capabilities and benefits in 2014 at Newark and Memphis with UPS, FedEx, and United Airlines.
