43 Chipotle restaurants in Washington and Oregon have been temporarily closed while under investigation for E. coli.
While the source of contamination has yet to be determined, the reported cases of infection have been linked to six Chipotle locations in Washington and Oregon. Other restaurants in the area have been closed for investigation as well.
There are 22 confirmed cases of E. coli, an infection that can cause severe stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea. 19 cases found in Washington and three in Oregon. No one has died from the infection.
NBC News reports that the investigation into the E. coli outbreak is still in the early stages and that it is likely that they will find the E. coli was from fresh produce delivered to the restaurants.
