VPPPA Award, Scholarship Deadlines Closing Fast

The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association has set a June 1 deadline for applications for three 2007 awards and a May 31 deadline for three scholarships. The three awards are the VPP Outreach Award, the Safety and Health Outreach Award, and the VPP Innovation Award.

The Outreach Award recognizes "VPP ambassadors" who encourage others to participate in DOE or OSHA programs and share their knowledge.Safety and Health honors "VPP models, who reach out and offer their expertise in safety and health generally, not VPP. Innovation recognizes an individual or worksite that has implemented an innovation and encouraged others to try new approaches.

Scholarships available from VPPPA include the June Brothers Scholarship for students pursuing a degree in the trades; William Sullivam Scholarship for an employee at a VPPPA full member site who has made significant contributions to the VPP program at that site; and DELTA/VPPPA Safety, Health and Environmental Scholarship for students who have parents or grandparents working at a VPPPA full, corporate, or associate member site who actively engage in outreach at school or in their community or workplace. Scholarship winners will be contacted in mid-July and will be invited to attend VPPPA's National Conference for a reduced rate. For eligibility criteria and other details, visit www.vpppa.org.
