Director's Briefing: Heart Disease and Stroke

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's director, Dr. Thomas Frieden, discusses heart disease and stroke, the health problems that cause the most deaths in the United States, in the September 2013 edition of Vital Signs (www.cdc.gov/vitalsigns/). One in three deaths in the United States results from cardiovascular disease. This figure is of great concern, especially because research clearly shows that we could prevent many of these deaths, according to the agency.
