OSHA Launches Webpage on Safe Handling of Lithium-Ion Batteries at Work

Information for employers and workers draws on national consensus standards, OSHA standards and existing guidance, the agency said.

Employers and workers who work with lithium-ion batteries have a new OSHA resource, the Lithium-ion Battery Safety webpage. The agency said the page is meant to help them safely make, use and store the batteries, as well as ship and recycle them.

The page's practical information is built on three sources, OSHA said: OSHA standards, national consensus standards and guidance available today.

OSHA announced the page in its Nov. 2 QuickTakes newsletter.
