Firefighters, occupational safety professionals and other public safety workers can pursue new health and wellness programs through Columbia Southern University (CSU).
The university introduced five bachelor's degree concentrations in public safety health and wellness, three master's degree concentrations in public safety mental health and wellness, and undergraduate and graduate certificate programs.
CSU said the curricula address the physical, emotional and psychological demands faced by workers regularly exposed to hazardous conditions, traumatic events and high-stress environments. According to the university, the programs cover resilience, stress management, workforce well-being and organizational support.
Bachelor's concentrations are available through programs in criminal justice, emergency management, fire administration, forensic investigation and homeland security. Master's concentrations are offered through fire, homeland security and occupational safety and health programs.
CSU also added an Undergraduate Certificate in Public Safety Health and Wellness and a Graduate Certificate in Public Safety Mental Health and Wellness.
