The commercial builder Buffalo Construction Inc. has adopted a new centralized risk-management system through a partnership with the contractor platform Highwire.
The software system will streamline how Buffalo Construction screens and approves its trade partners for approximately 150 nationwide projects annually.
Prior to integrating the new platform, the construction firm relied primarily on decentralized documentation and the personal insights of individual project managers to evaluate outside workers. The newly adopted system aggregates data regarding subcontractor safety histories, credit health, workforce capacity and past project experience into a single corporate database.
Risk management executives at the construction firm noted that scaling the company's operations required a more consistent, data-driven approach to choosing vendors without compromising existing trade relationships.
Highwire, a subsidiary of the safety compliance firm Veriforce, provides specialized software designed to help commercial developers vet third-party labor and minimize liability on active jobsites. Buffalo Construction selected the vendor following an evaluation of several competing project management platforms.
