DOL Calls for Public Feedback to Enhance OSHA Whistleblower Program

The May 15, 2024, meeting is the latest effort to get the public involved in the agency’s Whistleblower Protection Program.

The U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) is calling for public engagement to enhance its outreach and training efforts for the federal OSHA whistleblower laws it enforces.

According to a recent release, the free online meeting—scheduled for May 15, 2024— will welcome feedback from the public. OSHA aims to refine its whistleblower customer service and provide more clarity about whistleblower laws to workers and employers.

This latest meeting is part of an ongoing effort on the part of OSHA to solicit input from members of the public regarding the agency’s Whistleblower Protection Program. This program “enforces protections for employees who suffer retaliation for engaging in protected activities under more than 20 federal laws,” its webpage reads.

Comments must be submitted via the Federal eRulemaking Portal assigned to Docket No. OSHA-2018-0005 by May 29, 2024. Meanwhile, those interested in attending the meeting, which will be conducted in both English and Spanish, must register by May 8.
