Advisory Board on Radiation and Worker Health Accepting Nominations for New Members

The board is looking for people who have “scientific, medical and worker perspectives.” Nominations are open until November 16.

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) Advisory Board on Radiation and Worker Health (ABRWH) is accepting nominations for new members, NIOSH announced last week.

ABRWH focuses on claims by workers who potentially caught illnesses from working with or around radiation or radioactive materials, according to a news release. ABRWH advises the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services on topics around radiation exposure and illnesses, including final rules, “the scientific validity and quality of dose reconstruction efforts performed by NIOSH” and “whether there is a class of employees who should be added to the SEC,” NIOSH says.

It is looking for members with “scientific, medical, and worker perspectives.” Applicants will be selected based on their qualifications, experience and knowledge of ABRWH topics, NIOSH said.

There are about 12 members currently of the ABRWH, including professors and a chief medical officer.

Nominations can be submitted by mail or electronically and are due by November 16, 2022. To learn more about the submission process, click here.
