FMCSA Issues Safety Advisory for TYTAL Cargo Tanks

The advisory calls for the immediate repair and retesting of the tanks

According to a press release, the FMCSA has issued a safety advisory to provide notice to owners and operators of cargo tank vehicles made by Trailers Y Tanques De Alumino (TYTAL), primarily used to transport crude oil. The FMCSA says the tanks are not in compliance with Federal Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMRs).

More specifically, tanks with capacities of 8,400 and 8,717 gallons have inadequate accident damage protection, while tanks with a capacity of 10,500 gallons have inadequate venting capacity.
