NTSB Offering Training on Communications Following Major Accidents

The October 2015 training is for aviation public affairs professionals on how to manage emergency communications.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced that it is devoting two days this fall to offering guidance to aviation public affairs professionals on how to effectively manage emergency communications following a major aircraft accident or incident.

According to the agency's news release, training will be offered Oct. 22-23 at the NTSB Training Center in Ashburn, Va. The training is intended for professionals working with airports, airlines, air charter operators, and corporations with aviation departments. A one-day version of the course is available outside Washington, D.C., for groups of 10 or more.

The cost is $1,034 for early registration (by Sept. 19) and $1,134 for registration between Sept. 20 and Oct. 19. A $100 processing fee will be added to tuitions for all offline applications.

Media personnel will be in attendance to discuss how they cover aviation accidents and how social media is changing the way breaking news is consumed.
