GM Hires New PR Chief

Undergoing a safety crisis, with millions of its vehicles recalled, the automaker has appointed a new PR chief.

General Motors has hired a new public relations chief in the midst of a serious safety crisis, Forbes reported. Tony Cervone will be the new senior vice president of global communications for General Motors. This is Cervone's second time working at GM, according to the business magazine's report; he previously held senior PR positions at the company for 10 years.

Most recently, he worked as the executive vice president of group communications for Volkswagen of America. In addition, he previously worked for United Airlines and Chrysler.

In his new position, he will be responsible for GM's global communications, including corporate, social media, executive support, and internal communications, as well as global products and brands. He is replacing Selim Bingol, who left in April 2014.
