EU's June 1 Chemicals Deadline Looming
Producers and importers must notify the European Chemicals Agency by June 1 if any Substance of Very High Concern included in the Candidate List is present in their articles above 0.1 percent weight by weight and over 1 tonne per producer/importer per year.
The European Chemicals Agency is offering a May 19 webinar to help companies prepare their notifications of Candidate List Substances -- that is, Substances of Very High Concern. Notification of substances that were on the Candidate List as of Dec. 1, 2010, must be submitted by June 1.
Producers and importers must notify ECHA if any Substance of Very High Concern included in the Candidate List is present in their articles above 0.1 percent weight by weight and over 1 tonne per producer/importer per year. Listed substances have been officially identified as being of very high concern because of their hazardous properties for environmental and/or human health.
The webinar (register at https://echa-events.webex.com/echa-events/onstage/g.php?t=a&d=706583469) will provide practical information on how to prepare and submit a notification. The free webinar is open to anyone interested in the regulatory process, with capacity for as many as 1,000 participants on a first-come, first-served-basis. A archived recording of the webinar will be available on ECHA's website soon after it takes place.
ECHA has updated REACH-IT to facilitate the submissions and also has developed a new Data Submission Manual.
