ASSE Kuwait Chapter Seeks Middle East SH&E Excellence Nominees

The American Society of Safety Engineers Kuwait Chapter recently established the ASSE-Gulf Cooperation Council Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Excellence Award to recognize leadership and excellence while encouraging exceptional performance in workplace safety, health, and the environment within private sector companies in the Middle East. Companies have until Feb. 15 to submit their entries for consideration for the award.

The award aims to showcase successful business models from organizations that uphold occupational SH&E as a business value and excel in its performance. To be eligible for the award, companies must be in the private sector and have independent SH&E performance systems. Companies will be evaluated on their ability to demonstrate that their SH&E management system led to proven success in their SH&E practices and enhanced productivity. In addition, companies must show consistent improvement or that they have maintained top performance in SH&E for a minimum of two years. Performance measures must be based on recognized industry, national, and or international metrics.

Supporting documents for entries may include a business profile, SH&E management system, SH&E performance measurement management, SH&E results for the last two years, linkages between SH&E and business performance, additional factors that impede or facilitate success of management systems, fundamental elements of company successful lessons learned and future approaches, and a summary of main SH&E activities. There is no entrance fee for the award.

Award recipients will be invited and recognized at the ASSE-Kuwait Chapter 5th International HSE & Loss Prevention Professional Development Conference and Exposition 2009, which will be held March 17-19 in Kuwait.
